Welcome to my blog. I am thrilled you are here. I have been waiting a lifetime to talk to you, several lifetimes, if you believe in that sort of thing. When I started writing my journals and stories at the age of 10, I didn’t know it would turn into writing a blog or even a book. I only knew I had something inside of me that was trying to get out. Songs, poems, letters and even fictional stories have been my escape from a world that didn’t understand me. Writing down my true intent and feelings helped me to process the frustration of being different and the feelings of loneliness that accompany difference. You see, I’ve always been “different” because I had more emotions inside of me than I could handle and they came out in a rush and shocked other people (and me too). When I was younger I didn’t know what it meant to be sensitive to energy. I used to be teased for crying or getting too attached to people. I was told many times that I was depressed when I knew that I wasn’t. I just felt the world in a whole different way. As I have grown in both my physical and spiritual understanding of the world, I now know that my emotions have always been guiding me, supporting me and helping me make decisions….but only when I really listened to them.
An injury 25 years ago, left me with chronic pain and fatigue. Modern medicine only offered me drugs with side effects and failed surgeries left me feeling discouraged. So I began to seek relief elsewhere and that is how my journey began. I read books, attended classes and retreats and immersed myself in anything with the word healing in it. I have tried nearly every alternative medicine practice available. I have followed teachers, yogis and mediums. I have watched people find peace and balance in their lives and I have seen what happens to others when they cannot find it. I have been terrified and elated on this journey and stretched far beyond what I thought I could endure. If you know me at all, you know I question everything. So I have been a reluctant student on this spiritual journey. And because of my skepticism, I have created a rather sharp sense of what is real, useful and uplifting. I have also created a catalog of soul inspiring wisdom that is just bursting from my heart and I want to share it with you.
To be honest, this blog is a platform for the book I am trying to publish. The book is called “Follow You: A Beginner’s Guide to a Spiritual Journey”. Here is an excerpt from the book proposal written to the editor explaining the book’s concept. Follow You: A Beginners Guide to a Spiritual Journey offers a sweeping glance at the marketplace of self-discovery/spirituality/enlightenment and gives the reader Four Foundational points of reference: Wellness, Energy, Insight, and Faith. These Four Foundations help the seeker to filter through the market without being overwhelmed by the material. In each chapter the reader will be exposed to options and tools which enhance that Foundation with experiences and knowledge directly from the writer’s life. A tool like chanting for example would be analyzed under the Energy Foundation and explored by asking; What is it? How does it bring me closer to God/Source/Myself? How often and when should I do it? These questions and the writer’s experiences will help to dissolve the mystery and highlight the applicable scope of hundreds of tools for spiritual growth.
I want to have a conversation with you, the seeker, the spirit, the intellect. Each week, I will write about one aspect of the Four Foundations, a tool that can be used to enhance your life experience and bring you closer to your own truth. Please, give me your thoughts by posting a comment. You can also email me directly with ideas for topics that you would like to know more about. Any question is welcome. On Facebook and Twitter, I post about how I see the Four Foundations reflected in the world around me. I hope that you will join me and share your experiences. It would be amazing to me, if at some point, this was a large and dynamic safe group of people discussing and exploring their heart and soul while reflecting on the steps they take to mastering self.
Rumi has a quote that says “Out beyond the ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field, I’ll meet you there.” That’s what I hope my blog will be for you, a safe place with no judgment about wrong or right. There is no “right” way to self-mastery or spirituality or even God.
There are as many paths to God/Source as there are people on this planet. It is an incredibly personal journey that we all must take. But we don’t have to do it alone. A spiritual journey is not about learning, its about remembering who you really are. It’s about finding the tools that help you remember your soul’s purpose.
Did I mention that I am thrilled you are here? Thank you for the honor of touching your life.
Blessed Be!
Dana Lynn
