4 Ways To Feel Better Now

Quantum physics says that all things are energy. Everything we see, touch, hear and even ourselves, all of it is energy. The difference in the density of the matter has to do with the vibration or frequency at which that energy moves. I’m not a scientist so I’m not going to attempt to explain it past this point. But it is nonetheless a very important point. We are energy. The words we speak and the emotions we feel also carry a vibration of energy. In his many books on the topic, Dr. David R Hawkins describes a way to interact with the world once you understand this concept. He reviewed hundreds things; books, movies, food, religion and emotions. He tested them with his scale and gave each thing a rating on the LOG of vibration. And since emotions are the language of the soul, this scale helps to define how these emotions manifest in our life view. We will talk more about that when we get to INSIGHT!

I tell my kids, be careful what you put into your body because it will affect your vibration and how well you handle your day to day interactions. When I say that, I mean food, entertainment and the friends they hang around with. One time my daughter had a friend over whose energy was so starkly in the region of shame that I had to sage my whole house while she was there just so I could breathe. It felt so heavy to me, I thought I would suffocate. (And clearly I had not put up my protection like we talked about last week.)

I didn’t tell my daughter not to be friends with this girl but I did tell her that if she couldn’t put up her own protections and keep that energy from negatively influencing her life, then she might want to consider less interactions with that friend.

Think of yourself as the vehicle, the car by which your soul is traveling this earth.

If you think of your body and mind or your “self” as the engine of your life then your emotions are the fuel that drives you forward. A higher quality gasoline is going to make the engine run better. The higher the vibration of feelings you experience the better your engine is going to run.

In other words, when you consistently feel emotions like anger, despair and blame, your engine will not provide enough energy to effectively move you forward in your life. You will become stuck in those negative emotions.

When I teach these concepts to teens I always give the example of when their parents tell them stop behaving a certain way. “Stop being so (fill in the blank) anxious, sad, angry. This is completely impossible for a person overwhelmed by lower negative emotions. My advice is to just reach for the next best feeling they can find. If they are in despair, then reach for regret or anger or even pride, those emotions have a higher vibration and will help to propel them upward and into the ones above 200.

Nothing changes just because we want it to.

Energy is action.

We have to take an action to see change in how we feel about ourselves and the world around us.

Here are 4 Actions you can take to feel better.

  • Do something that you are good at. It could be a hobby or sport or cooking. It could be as simple as a crossword puzzle or coloring. It doesn’t matter what it is, how big or small the action as long as it makes you feel pride in yourself. Pride is close to the neutral point on the scale and can help to lift you into a higher vibration of feelings.

  • Watch or read something happy or inspiring. This will distract you from the despair or hostile feelings and help you focus on something hopeful. Hope and inspiration are in the 300 range of the scale. I like the movie “The Blind Side”, when Sandra Bullock’s character turns around in the street when she realizes Michael is homeless and she looks at her family and then back at him and says “well all right then”, you know she is reaching deep to find thecourage to do what is right despite how bad it may look to others (giving him a bed to sleep in). That is the hope I have for all people, and it reminds me of the potential to care for one another. The whole movie inspires me and makes me feel better.

  • Go to the theatre, museum or a concert. The arts fill us with the best of humanity. It’s a reminder of the potential of human beings to create beautiful things that can heal rather than hurt. Seeing talent and beauty in others empowers us to choose our own natural beauty and express our own gifts and talents.

  • Breathe or meditate. Taking deep breathes can help us to shed the negative feelings. Mediation is a very personal experience with yourself. Some people sit in a quiet space and others chose to walk in nature. It doesn’t matter where you find quiet, but a few minutes of just mindfulness can change your feelings. It will lead you to acceptance of the way things are and help release your attachment to the outcome or actions of others.

Make each day the best it can be, reach for the highest feelings of joy and love that you can find. But also remember that those negative emotions are a part of our journey. They help to show us what we do not want to have in our lives. They serve a purpose and are not bad. Its contrast, gray slate so we can see the colors. Thank goodness we don’t have to be scientists to figure it out.

Blessed Be!
